How does one promote a pawn. I move a pawn to the C8 square and the screen goes dark and freezes. What do I need to do? Thanks.

Using the new interface you should get a popup to select what piece to promote to. What game is it? What browser are you using?

The game is g1105368029. The pop up does appear when I move the pawn to C8. But then the screen goes dark and freezes. The browser is Google. I am sure this is the first time I have tried to promote a pawn with the new interface. Thanks

Unfortunately "Google" isn't a browser. I'm not able to reproduce that issue in any browser I try. You can still make the move my typing c7c8=Q into the move box. If you can try to figure out which browser and version you're using, it might help me fix it for future instances.

Sorry about that. My browser is Edge 90 on Windows 10. I tried typing the move but that did not work. I may try to download a different browser.

When viewing the game, can you press "ctrl+shift i". This will bring up the "developer tools", click on the tab that's labeled "console", then try to make your move. Let me know if anything appears in the console log.

Are you double clicking the piece you select to promote to? You should just single click.

I must have double clicked. I made the move. Thanks for your help.

I am again not able to promote a Pawn. In game g1105368500 I want to move 42...b1 Queen. But my screen goes dark and freezes. Need help.

Give it a try now. It still looks like a double click, and I can't reproduce the problem, but I think at least it'll ignore it now.

Still cannot promote the Pawn. After clicking the Queen icon screen freezes.

You're the only one who's reported it, possible others have had it and not said anything.

At this point, you might want to just type "b2b1=Q" into the move box to make your move. I'll keep looking into it, but I don't think it's going to get solved anytime soon since I can't cause the problem myself.
