why was I defaulted with nearly twenty days on the clock?
I wasn't in a position to start the tournament for a couple of weeks but I didn't expect to be defaulted. m1357445743. I was looking forward to that particular tournament. I could play on now. I don't even need the time back.

I haven't received any email notifications of any kind from net-chess since the 20th. (and yes, I've checked my spam and asked my ISP, and no, I haven't turned off notifications as far as I know and can tell). Does anyone know if there is a problem, or if the fates are picking on me?

Strange that 1.c4, such a flexible first move gets so few votes so far. I play any of g3, Nf3, d4, c4 but I voted for b4 because it gives challenging games when taken seriously by black and good winning chances when black doesn't respect it. and of course there is less "book" on it for people to ref...

I've occasionaly seen players resign a winning position, but much more commonly play on a losing position in a state of depression and miss chances to get back into the game. My general approach is this: 1. If I'm totally depressed about the game I won't play more than another two or three moves bef...
