I just don't know what that picture has to do with The Beerdrinkers chess team. Looks kinda bland. I like this one better:

2011 Zapper Tournament Schedule
Image-Image-Image-Image
Round 2 Schedule:
Board 1 Players will play 1 Game vs each Board 2 Player
energy, pcmvr, angelofthenight & jvanmechelen vs cliff, iamachessstudent, wilbeerthoven & sisterofmercy

Board 3 Players will play 1 Game vs each Board 4 Player
johnrbrown, ecperreault, pawnraider & pumpkin vs johnb, cmulligan, islanderfan & mi
Board 5 Players will replay each other as in Round 1
redketchuplover, pwillows, heyuneverno & jsiebert

Round 3 (Final) Schedule:
Board 2 Players will play 1 Game vs each Board 3 Player
cliff, iamachessstudent, wilbeerthoven & sisterofmercy vs johnrbrown, ecperreault, pawnraider & pumpkin

Board 4 Players will play 1 Game vs each Board 5 Player
johnb, cmulligan, islanderfan & mi vs redketchuplover, pwillows, heyuneverno & jsiebert
Board 1 Players will replay each other as in Round 1
energy, pcmvr, angelofthenight & jvanmechelen

This will match teammates vs each others occasionally, it will be an automatic Team Point and it is a chess game.
The 2011 Zapper Tournament concludes with the finish of Round 3. Teams and Players will be recognized at the end.
The 2011 Zapper Tournament will most likely be decided by a couple of upsets between boards as the First Round showed that the teams were very close. The team currently in 4th Place had a few games conclude with Time Outs which affected their score.
Good Luck to all Teams and Players!

Er...I'm confused now. (Mind you, that's nothing new for me! :D )

:? :?

In another topic, I posted the Round Two, Three and Four formats that Brian (islanderfan), and myself had spoken about and agreed on a few weeks ago.

********************

...Round Two, Three, and Four formats have Round Two being identical to Round One.

After Round Two, the team with the lowest cumulative points from Round One and Round Two will be eliminated for Round Three.

Round Three and Four will see the top three teams play the same format as Rounds One and Two, but with only three teams.

At the end of both Round Three and Four, the teams will be awarded the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in order of their total points from Rounds Three and Four.

*********************

Now it seems that The format for the rest of the tournament has been changed!

I'll certainly back whatever the final decision is, but I have a concern that the seemingly-revised format that ecperreault has shown above rather botches the team idea. To use sports similies, sometimes the NY Yankees will play the NY Yankees? I can't quite get a grip on the idea of playing my own team in competition!

:?

My other concern is that suddenly we've gone to matches, rather than tournaments. myself vs energy, pcmver vs Josh, angelofthenight vs willbeerthoven, etc. Rather than five tournaments per Round, we have eight individual match-ups, and one tournament: a total of nine! And the matches will be much harder to get started, taking much more time.

Food for thought.

Could we get a FINAL ruling from the Tournament Director, Brian?

:? :? :? :?

You'll have to excuse Brian. He's busy getting slapped around in our match game.I suspect him of conspiring with Pete Willows as both responded to my devastating 1.b4 with the same rare move.Little did they know I was fully prepared to unleash the deadly QUEEN ROOK ATTACK!!! I think Brian is still curled up in a corner sucking his thumb & rocking back n forth while mumbling incoherently.Meanwhile Pete seems to be crying hysterically while calling for his Mommy...It may seem cruel to so brutally assault someone on the chess board, but if ya want to run with the big dawgs... 8)

This is where to do your yaking about schedule fixing and other underhanded sneaky dealings about the Tournament.
Littering the Zapper Reports with all that schedule mumbo-jumbo... whining about the likes of, 'I don't want him playing her 'cause her is too good.' or 'I want to switch lefty for righty blah blah blah.' There you go! Now you've done it! My undies are in a bunch!
Just makes for a bad day all around.
Now I'm just going to have go pick on the neighbor's 3-legged wiener dog (aka Dachshund), he always wants to fight... Well, it's a best of 3 today 'Oscar'!

I'm surprised that our intrepid reporter, despite being a member of Caissa's Chosen, has neglected to mention that with two shotgun draws on Board Five, between Redketchuplover (Team Tyr) and pwillows (Caissa's Chosen), his team has picked up it's first points since the Toronto Maple Leafs last won the Stanley Cup!

The reasons for the quick draws are likely due to complications in getting the Board Five match started, but they stand, nonetheless. They also give Caissa's Chosen second place in Round Two with 1 point, trailing Team Tyr, first with 1.5 points. Keep 'Em Checkmated has .5 points, and The Beer-drinkers are dry!

Overall Standings are:

Team Tyr - 10.5
Keep 'Em Checkmated - 9.5
Caissa's Chosen - 9
The Beerdrinkers - 4

So far so good.....

Oh, Cliff...
Those draws were agree to IN ADVANCE of the games being posted and it was also agreed that they would not count toward the Zapper Memorial Team Points (redketchuplover: "Please note the games featuring redketchuplover&pwillows will not count as they were already playing a 2 game match." Oct 19th in the'Hey Cliff, Is the Zapper Memorial Done?' forum) - Because YOU would not put your foot down and tell redketchuplover to forget his private match with pwillows. THEREFORE, that (http://www.net-chess.com/tscore.cgi?matches=m1318378905) counts as their Board 5 Match.
I can only hope that in Round 3 there aren't 57 'Prima donnas' wanting their only private matches 'ala Bobby Fischer'.
Please delete your 'Updated' scoreboard so as not to confuse anyone.
I would say this UNBIASED Reporter is still up to the challenge of reporting ONLY IMPORTANT news!

(dedededededededededededede sound of a news wire) This is your roving and very handsome reporter for the zapper tournament, reporting on Toronto v Eugene.
Eugene's army is now weakened. Cliff the ruler of the great land of Canuckville, said " With are recent attack on Vishington (assuming Washington state), Eugene and his band of pop guns peeps, can't hold a bar to Canuckland! Vive le Toronto!!!!

In all seriousness though, I was under the impression that they would draw in their match, and resume the Zapper in the tournament! I thought a mix-up had occurred and they agreed to draws in the wrong games!

:?

But if you don't mind the problem of following the match as well, Eugene, so to get their individual results from it, that that's fine with me!

:)

(Also, because I see that Red is winning at least one of those games, and has an edge in the other! I could stand Team Tyr getting two points, rather than one!)

:D

Also, in my defence, guys, once their match had incorrectly started, there really wasn't any way for me to stop it. Then when Red said he wasn't posting anymore, I informed Brian that Tommy would do it. I even think I mentioned it in the forum! When it finally DID start, I told Tommy not to bother.

(Thank God for that! We would have had TWO Board Five tournaments going at once PLUS Red and Pete's match! Then what???)

Anyway, all is understood now and working, and I won't fire any of you,   so enjoy the show!

Hee hee, I am thinking about now that we all REALLY do appreciate all that Greg does behind the scenes, almost all of which we know nothing about, then once its done we rarely say 'Thank you, Greg'
Heck, all we have is 20 in a small Tournament, and once the matches are posted - we are done.
Greg has MILLIONS of members, and thousands of complaints every day to respond to INDIVIDUALLY. He keeps everyone smoothly pushing wood and monitoring everything for FREE!
And worst of all... Greg has to suffer reading these forums! 'GACK!' We all know what a bothersome thing that can be. Personally, I hope he has had a few chuckles at a few of my forum postings.
>>> There is a little Text Button WAAAAAYYYY down on the left hand side which reads *Donations*, most of us never even noticed it. Did you note that Greg didn't place it up top with flashing stars around it or any other distracting concept used by most other forums. Show some appreciation if you like the site.
Image
NOTE: I borrowed the 'Prop' from my 13 year old son...
Greg, I shall be sending out my donation towards the site tomorrow, you will know when it arrives, it is the one with older stamps on the envelope (Philatelist) - .o0-that word will keep Brian busy for weeks-0o.
Thank you Greg
