LOL. Sounds like islanderfan wishes to run for the Mayor's Office, maybe for the perks, eh?

Did you receive the Check for $11.50, Payment in full, all ready? Mr Buzzy Fezzlewig stated to me that all invoices have been Paid In Full. PLEASE stop with all the nasty ... ... ... messages asking me for handouts. If you didn't receive it, go beg the 4-H'ers, its all their fault.
... ... ... What could this UNBIASED Reporter possibly have to do with the finances of this place? I can barely keep up with my Penthouse Rent of ... ... ... $52.75 a week (the electricity is NOT included).

This is your UNBIASED Reporter at the Zapper Tournament reporting live from Grabmyack which is located up somewhere in the Northeast. The two top rated ... ... ... players at the Zapper Tournament have concluded their Round 1 game. energy of Team Tyr and pcmvr of Caissa's Chosen swapped moves which are above what even I can comprehend (sort of). I was there as energy unleashed the curious 27 ... Nf8!?
Image
followed by ... ... ... the more curious 28 ... Nh7. However the remaining 3 moves concluding with the "coup de grâce" 31 ... g5!
Image
allowed the superb plan to reveal itself, and allowed also a decisive outcome between these these giants.
There seems to be a trend happening at the 2011 Zapper Tournament ... ... ... The teams who just a few games ago seemed completely out of the possibility of making a title run are moving towards the top. Caissa's Chosen (the FORMER Juggernaut) team has stalled. Could it be safe to say that ... ... ... The 2011 Zapper Tournament is any team's for the taking! This is definitely a new race.
What seemed just a week ago to be all but over, has evolved into a highly competitive tournament.
Good luck to all teams!

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Tournament with important news ... ... ... The Board 4 Tournament is COMPLETE ... ... ... The game between johnb (Canada) of Team Tyr and mi (France) of The Beerdrinkers has just gone final with mi's resignation in one of the longer games played at the Zapper Tournament.
Image
... ... ... These two French combatants from either side of the Great Frog Pond really went at it in this Queen's Gambit, Chigorin Defense. The game changer was johnb's 17. Bb4! When he made that move, mi, who is from France ... ... ... - they speak French there, you know - said something completely foreign to everyone. However, being the walking virtual encyclopedia of knowledge that I am, ... ... ... I knew immediately that mi had commented about a church (I can translate cursing in no fewer than 43 languages). But! Because this will go unnoticed by anyone but me, ... ... ... I shall keep what was said in a moment of shock, just a personal secret between mi and I.
Tournament Note:
The Board 4 results are as follows:
1st TIED* - Image islanderfan (Keep Em Checkmated)
1st TIED* - Image cmulligan (Caissa's Chosen)
3nd - Image johnb (Team Tyr)
4th - Image mi The (Beerdrinkers)
* Any Tie-breakers will be announced later as soon as payments are received IN FULL (No checks this time islanderfan!)

It is with a heavy heart that I, your UNBIASED Reporter, take up this pen and scribe this headline:
Team Keep Em Checkmated is in 1st Place! at the 2011 Zapper Tournament
Ever since that little snot-nosed kid dorked his game against pawnraider, Caissa's Chosen has crumbled! You just wait 'till I get Biroggvy on his a... (Editor's Note: Garbled Transmission)
heyuneverno of the Keep Em Checkmated team has just defeated redketchuplover of Team Tyr in the FIRST Board 5 Tournament result.
Image
This nice Queen's Pawn game concluded with heyuneverno pushing redketchuplover's King around like Biroggvy is going to do to some little brat ... ... ... The result of this game has turned the previously calm Zapper Tournament rout by Caissa's Chosen into a very complicated free-for-all tournament where every team has a chance. What a pity ... ... ... WAIT! You don't need to change the names on the trophies and checks yet. Caissa's Chosen will still win. I already paid Ms Realgirlnextdo ...
We apologize for the interrupted transmission. It ended prematurely.

Headline: redketchuplover's Redemption
This is your UNBIASED Reporter reporting LIVE from the 2011 Zapper Tournament again. Last night in front of MILLIONS of fans, redketchuplover of Team Tyr lost a heartbreaking game to heyuneverno of the Keep Em Checkmated. Well, he didn't need long to redeem himself as he defeated pwillows of the now mediocre team of Caissa's Chosen ... ... ... redketchuplover wasn't interested in Pawn formations, endgames or crap like that, he went right for the jugular vein and a quick end to this Reti Opening
Image
The Zapper Tournament has turned into a closely fought Team Chess Tournament now. Stay tuned for further finals as the games are finishing quickly now in the First Round games.

Round 1 of the 2011 Zapper Tournament is coming to a rapid conclusion right in front of your UNBIASED Reporter. In the Board 1 Tournament, energy of Team Tyr has just received the resignation of jvanmechelen, the Captain of The Beerdrinkers ... ... ...
Image
jvanmechelen came out with a stout English Opening, hoping to unleash a specially prepared line that he had worked out just for this game ... ... ... However, energy would have none of that and proceeded to turn it all around on jvanmechelen. jvanmechelen put up a fight which would do any player proud ... ... ... But, in the end, energy just had too much experience and the game was concluded this morning.
It is not so much the fading of The Beerdrinkers that has everyone feeling sad, ... ... ... it is lack of Cheergirl sightings!

This is your UNBIASED Reporter at the VERY EXCITING 2011 Zapper Tournament. As was predicted, it's the Board 5 Matches that will decide the 1st Round Leader ... ... ... The Captains of the Universal Teams took turns selecting the 'Best of the Best', carefully assembling the best possible teams. The long and arduous process was only sped along with what some thought as, 'the simple choices'. The final selection between the lowest ranked players and of course the little kid no one wants to pick and is just taken because he is the last one standing there.
Well, as special as the SUPER Highly Elo Rated Players think they are, it is the regular players who will make the biggest impacts in the Zapper Tournament! Case in point!
jsiebert of The Beerdrinkers has just defeated pwillows of the 'Lost in the Clouds' Caissa's Chosen.
Image
pwillows played the fancy-schmantzy 1.g3! and jsiebert answered immediately with the 'Take That!' 1 ... c6! and it was on in this Trompowsky Attack!
pwillows tried exchanging off all the pieces he could after he won a Knight early thinking it would lead to an easy endgame win. However, jseibert had a single goal: Attack pwillows weakened position which was all set into motion with pwillows 10.f3?! ... ... ... When it was over, pwillows dropped his head and shoulders and audibly exhaled in what seemed as 'relief' that it was over. Looking across the table, Judy had a smile and a twinkle in her eye. She kept her emotions in check and didn't say anything as she left the playing hall. However, as she passed Myaria, my photographer, who was out in the buffet area getting lunch, Judy looked at Myaria and said, 'That will teach the boys to play that junk against me.' ... ... ...
So! We have a tighter race for the top spot in the Zapper Tournament. The remaining games will only make it more exciting!

Special Report from the 2011 Zapper Tournament !!!
This is your UNBIASED Reporter with an interesting development. redketchuplover of Team Tyr has defeated jsiebert of The Beerdrinkers in a nice Pirc Defence Opening.
Image
It was a polite game with both sides showing nice manners at the end ... ... ...
As a small side note ... ... ...
Team Tyr has just made it a 3-way Tie in the 2011 Zapper Tournament, with only 6 games remaining in Round 1.

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Tournament with important news ... ... ... The Board 2 Tournament has been completed with the resignation of sisterofmercy of The Beerdrinkers to iamachessstudent of Caissa's Chosen.
Image
... ... ... With this victory, Caissa's Chosen is tied for the 2011 Zapper Tournament lead with 2 other 'Lucky' teams. This Classical Variation of the King's Indian Defense was well played in the opening by sisterofmercy in which he deviated from the usual 10... Nc5 and played the uncommon 10... Nd7!... ... ... However the superior preparation of the Caissa's Chosen team paved the way for iamachessstudent (who studied well) to sidestep the rough paths and continue smoothly through the middle game. At the conclusion of this game the two players shook games and said nothing ... ... ... There was a hard 10 second stare between them. I have an idea they won't be sharing a Pint at the Grabber anytime soon!
... ... ... There are only 3 games remaining in the First Round of the 2011 Zapper Tournament, I hope the CORRECT AND FINAL Schedule is posted soon. Might have to get Biroggvy on that right away. No, he might be 'too' persuasive ... ... ... I shall get Myaria to see that the Second Round Schedule is completed soon, she has a sort of 'soft' way of being persuasive, might just work. Myaria! Let's have a little talk, dear. I have a most ... ... ... hideous job for you. You remember islanderfan from Keep Em Checkmated (Editor's Note: Corrected)? Well, we have a little problem ...
Stay tuned for further reports of The Zapper Tournament from Grabmyack, which is located somewhere in the Northeast.

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Tournament reporting that there are ONLY 2 games remaining in the First Round ... ... ... The game between heyuneverno of Keep Em Checkmated team and pwillows of Caissa's Chosen has just gone Final with pwillows resigning a hopeless position. This game was FULL of momentum swings such as after pwillows played 18... Rxe3+!!!
Image
Then after the Queens were exchanged finishing the sequence was 22.Nxd5
Image
Then after pwillows played 34... Bxh3 it was a race between pwillows Kingside Pawns and the Queenside Pawns of heyuneverno!
Image
The final turning point came with heyuneverno's 46. c7!
Image
And the final position was:
Image
With that result in, team Keep Em Checkmated has regained sole possession of First Place in the standings!

Cool. That or 3 ,for a best 2 out of 3 would be good.A single game;while it would speed things up,would also be kinda lame.

I'll go with Brian on this one.

Although, I think the match concept gets away from the team idea, if we're having matches, then the two-game matches would be best, in my mind.

2 games is fine.As I said "That(2 games) OR 3" was the start of my comment. One idea though. Not trying to overcomplicate, but how about an "over-under" deal to keep it teams instead of just matches. What I mean is each player plays the Opposing teams 1 higher & 1 lower board. While board 1 & 5 play one against their own board & one against the higher or lower as the case may be. In other words;for example,

CC vs The BD
CC1 vs BD1 & 2 BD1 vs CC1 & 2
CC2 vs BD 1 & 3 BD2 vs CC1 & 3
CC3 vs BD 2 & 4 BD3 vs CC2 & 4
CC4 vs BD 3 & 5 BD4 vs CC3 & 5
CC5 vs BD 4 & 5 BD5 vs CC4 & 5

Just an idea.Fine with the same board match as well if that's the preference.Just popped in my head while looking over things & seemed an interesting idea. :D
