A maximum amount of time.
If you're playing a 30+2 game, a player could make 20 moves immediatley after yours, then wait 70 days before moving again. With a maximum "time bank", the total time will never go above the specified value. E.g. 30+2 max 40 means making a move when you have 39 days of think time remaining, it will only go up to 40 days, not 41.

question good - posting ...
... hmm. I can't see where I should submit my vote -- I think the question is important -- but where should I vote if I want a time limit? 10 or 1?
oops, i gave a 9 , thinking 10 was the most agreeable.
The sticky says 1 is the most imp.

Not Voting
I'm not voting in this poll because it is very important to me that this proposed change not occur, so I don't know whether to put one or ten. I don't like the fact that we have no "Vacation" days here but I compensate by playing at 30+2 or 20+3. I absolutely reserve the right to use all my accumulated days when I don't have access to power at home. In 2004, before I joined this site, I lost power at home for about ten consecutive days. In past years I have lost power for as long as six weeks at a time. When I lose power it's due to a damaging storm and I am too busy cleaining up to even think about going to a library. I did use laptop battery power to visit the two sites where I had games going. I put myself on "vacation" at one site and "holiday" at the other. I later learned that playing games on the library computers in my county is prohibited along with chat rooms and instant messaging.
i am pretty sure this isn't the same as 'playing' games on the net.I later learned that playing games on the library computers in my county is prohibited along with chat rooms and instant messaging.

Playing Games on the Internet
I was not aware of this site when I checked with my local library but the two sites I did check were both blocked by the software. One was www.chessworld.net (otherwise known as www.letsplaychess.com) and the other was www.itsyourturn.com. I spoke with a Librarian and was told that they viewed Chess as just another game. Their feeling is that if they allow Chess they would have to allow all games.
