White must lose the B on a8 to prevent mate.

Instead of Ba3 Black could play Qc2, aiming much higher.

3... Qc2 4.h3 Qxe2 5.Qf3
(5.QB? => Ne4! or Qxb2)
(5.Kh2? => Ne4!)

White just has no defense against the Queen.
2.h3 is the correct move for white.

That's correct knightmare. Though I myself would go after the QB instead of the KB with Qe4.
