Mate in 6 and ply

Post by ruymoultor » Thu Feb 12, 2004 4:56 pm

For those wondering ply means "half-move".

In this position here White seems to be losing horribly, down a Rook, two Knights and four pawns, but he has a great sequence of moves that can bring him the full point. Can you find White's mate in 6 and ply?

White to move.

Good Luck and congrats to anyone who solves this! Comments welcome.

As it only concerns 1 key move, I've created a link

You are correct with that move. Black now needs careful defending to extend the mate to 6 and ply with White threatening mate two ways.
