Is 1... Nf3+ a good move for black?

Yes. I think it is. It forks the white's K and R.

What if black plays NxQ instead of Qxp?

I agree. If white follows your line Greg then white will lose Queen.

Black actualy looses the knight if black follows this line:

1... Nf3+ 2.Kf2! Nxe1 3.exd6 Nxc2 4.dxc7 and blacks knight is trapped.
White can now play Rd2 or pin the knight after Nxb4
(the knight cannot be protected by playing either a5 or c5)
So, black looses a Knight for 2 pawns.
