At the end of the evening at the chess club, you walk up to a table where the players have joined the bar for a drink leaving the chessboard in its final position.
An other club member stands there a bit lost with the White King in his hand.
On your question what's up, the other replies that he accidently bumped the table, where upon the white king dropped from the board.

Your first reaction to dismiss this is smothered when you noticed how the white Bishops is placed, giving the black king check.

Can you place the white king back on the board and tell what the last three half moves have been?

white king on c3

white last move : King takes pawn on c3 : Kxc3
black last move : pawn on b4 takes pawn on c4 en passant : bxc3
white 2nd move : c2 to c4 : c2c4

too easy when you know the rule for "la prise en passant"
