Has anyone subscribed to www.chessgames.com?

Hi there
Does anyone use the following site? http://www.chessgames.com/index.html It provides free info and stats on openings but after about 5 moves you are prompted to purchase premium membership

I'm wondering whether it is worth paying the (reasonable) annual subscription to get the other features: end-game analysis, downloads, etc. I've got books and links to other chess sites which are free, and the subscription isn't much, so it's really just confirmation of content quality that would be useful. Any info, or pointers elsewhere would be appreciated.
