The other 11 will be based on ratings as of Dec 15, 2005.

Some changes this year ... No tiebreak games. After you are seeded the top seed moves on in case of ties. This means if your seed is less than your opponent, you must win the match. Also, I spent a lot of time last year sending emails to invite players so we would have a strong tournament. I do not have the time to do that this year. So spread the word about this post to your opponents. To join you MUST contact me through the Net-Chess website "Contact A Player" link or post it in this thread. After I get the 16 players needed, I'll take the next 20 players for section II. Good Luck to all!

Round 1

Four Groups of 4 players @ 2 games with each opponent (5 players in section II). Two people from each group moves on. Time control for this round is 20d+1d

Round 2

You will be paired in match play. 4 games at 30d+1d.

Round 3

More match play! This time a 6 game match at 30d+2d.

Round 4

The last two will play a 8 game match at 30d+2d time control.

Money Round

What? This is the round where the winner can take his $100 and quit. Or choose to play me in a 10 game match at 30d+2d for double or nothing!

If there's room, I'd like to join. I'm relatively new here so I'm not sure how the tournament works. Is it played through net-chess?

Yes ... all games are played here at Net-Chess. I post the first round but use the message system to inform who you play if you move on in the tournament. So make sure your email address is correct.

It takes around a year and a half to complete if you go to the finals if the brackets are full. Sometimes there are short delays between matches but I try to keep everyone together.

I've listed everyones rating as of Dec 15 and posted them on the above tournament page. I clicked to print the rating list here at net-chess and when I came back to the computer a book had come out! LOL

I've also seeded the top section so you can look and see who you will be playing. However, I am still allowing people to join up to Jan 1, so things can change.

Note to all:
I tried to add the new players fairly but it is hard to do since group 2 has already started. I didn't think the players who had joined to play on time should drop in seeding. So I added the two highest rated players iivanov and ruben to the bottom of the seedings but tried to set the pairings as if they were the top seeds anyway. All this means is that they will not fair good in case they end in a tie with anyone.
