Time Outs

Post by echamberlain » Mon Dec 27, 2004 11:24 am

When a game times out, what happens? In particular, do I have to do anything to claim the win, and do I have the option of granting my opponent more time?

The reason I ask is that an opponent with whom I am playing five games, of which one times out today and one tomorrow, has not moved on the site for some time. That suggests to me that he may be ill or have lost computer access or have some other valid reason for not moving.

Timed out games are automatically scored every night you don't need to do anything. You won't receive a win if less than 10 moves were made (a time out always counts as a loss for the looser though). And there's no way to grant your opponent more time.

Time out

Post by pbrussen » Mon Feb 21, 2005 3:50 am

I experienced a time out aswell (g1102608873, m1102608872), which is highly unsatisfactory, since it was a game started by my opponent.
Pity that some of the top-move players cannot finish a game (in which the position is lost) on a gentleman way !

But enough of that......
My compliment for this site, really great.

Best regards,
Pieter (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
