3 or 4 moves a week?

If I just want to make 3 or 4 moves per week, what's the appropriate number of games and amount of time I should have?

Try 7+1 4 players, 1 game

7+1 is too aggresive with 3 on-going games, you will lose before making the third move. (Total moves 3 per week and total games 3 - so 1 move per week, so 3 moves will take 15 days, by that time it is timeout!)

If it is 2 games, you will get 1.5 moves per week per game, approx. 5 days per move per game, so time setting must be 30+5 and 2 on-going games. 30+4 will also do with considerable risk (time will be deducted from 30 days buffer and if game goes on for large number of moves, it may exhaust.)

You want 3.5 moves per week.
Assume 40 moves per game.
This gives you 40/3.5 or 11.5 weeks per game.
Which is 80 days per game.

time controls could be 80 0; 40 1; or 0 2

double for two games, triple for three. -- if you mean 3.5 moves for all your games.

Just use 40 1 each game if you mean 3.5 moves per week per game.

I don't think this simple arithmetic applies here.
80 0 is fine, but not 40 1 or 0 2.

in case of 40 1,
to make 20 moves, time taken = 3.5 * 20 = 70 days (worst case assuming opponent replies with little delay)
time gathered by virtue of making 20 moves = 40 + 20*1 = 60.
So, already the game is timed out!

in case of 0 2,
when you come back to make your 2nd move after 3.5 days, you are out of the game (only 2 days obtained after making first move)!

I got my figures wrong and realised after posting the reply
