I also get these microsoft patches that are supposed to give security to 3 new defects on outlook express, mail and such

And then there is an attachment i have to open: Q247972.exe

This looks like a ridiculous file, I'm afraid to open it.
It all looks very right because i see an official microsoft window?

Note: this is an email that was classed in bulk-mail.

But i thought updates would be installed automatically like the xp-hotfixes??

I'm sorry to disturb you but I tried to reply to those emails:

unable to deliver - mails

And then I get a syntax error page??

This is starting to annoy me.

this is the virus we mentioned earlier in the forum there is another part to it too see the earlier message for details

probably on page 2 by now

in fact the other part of the virus might be the undelivered mail message you mentioned in the first post

even if it is not if the mail address listed is not one you ever sent mail to just delete the mail and make sure your virus checker is up to dat

i recommend AVG from http://www.grisoft.com it is a free virus checker and comes recommended from PC pro's

Kieth is right. Microsoft will never e-mail a patch to you.

AVG is great, it's free, but why does everyone buy norton for 50 euros if there is AVG?

There must be a catch...

AVG as far as i know runs on all windows systems

As for mugs buying Norton well the only answer i cna come up with is PC sellers saying have this at half price as virus checkers are vital

Personally i run AVG and Zone Alarm (a firewall program) on my pc but with my ADSL upgrade enxt week i think it comes with a firewall program so i can leave it running all day long

I think the virus does it itself. I can't imagine someone doing this, he would have no life.

I mean where is the virus that keep sending me patches? Clearly the virus must be in somebody's computer or in a network, but what network? A personal LAN or university network etc?.
