Pinned Rook

Can a pinned piece put a king in check? I had my opponent's rook pinned with my queen. On my opponent's next move he could have put me in check with his other rook. The second rook would have been protected with the pinned rook. Could I have taken the second rook with my king? The only piece protecting the rook putting me in check was the rook that was pinned. So, could the rook putting me in check be protected by a pinned piece?
I've been playing chess for a long time, and this is the first time such a situation has come up. I hope I explained this right.

You cannot take the rook with your king as you would be placing your king in check. The fact that the rook is pinned is of no consequence.

Thanks, Ziggyblitz! I can't believe after playing chess for over 40 years I didn't know the rule applying to that situation. Live and learn............................
