I'm sorry about that. I downloaded your played games and was removing all the timeouts and games under 10 moves when I came by this one.
I was trying to figure out how to place people according to wins and losses against you as you played quite some games with many people.
This certainly wasn't posted to show you can't play, as you've got quite a good score against many. And only two losses (out of 16?) against tbrennan, with one of them posted above.

Whats my record against jjones and mvoong please
or to put it another way how many times have either of them ever beaten me

Hi Telly....
I found only 11 games vs tbrennan, but then I had deleted any games under 5 moves or timeout's, I may have missed some.
Here is what I found... [ it appears I played him 7 times , it probalbly was 8 , but 1 is lost somewhere in the archives...] apparently he likes to beat up on dragonpower, and fnoordham, not just tbrennan , [ and mlaurent, and ronald and mluka beat him up ]

Hey dude,
Don't remove timeouts which have more then ten moves played.
It's like declaring an OTB game void because one of the players timed out.
(Whatever the excuse, net-chess regulations declares it a valid win/loss)
Calculating the rating differences:
According to ELO rating probabilities:
Winchance + 0,5 x drawchance = Rating difference
For jjones this would mean:
29,5/51 = 0,57 (which is winchance combined with drawchance)
With the aid of an ELO statistics graph (100.000 games)
ELO difference = 125.
Blue text means Keith is better then, Red text means Keith is less then.
jjones 29.5/51 +8 51 games ELO-DIF = -125
mvoong 20/32 +8 32 games ELO-DIF = -150
rhand 24/31 +17 31 games ELO-DIF = -250
mluka 9/30 -12 30 games ELO-DIF = > 300
dragonpower 20.5/24 +17 24 games ELO-DIF = <-300
thaden 8/22 -6 22 games ELO-DIF = 200
fnoordam 20/20 +20 20 games ELO-DIF = < -300
rudy 9/20 -2 20 games ELO-DIF = 120
rbeckett 8/14 +2 14 games ELO-DIF = 125
mlaurent 2/13 -9 13 games ELO-DIF = > 300
tbrennan 10/11 +9 11 games ELO-DIF = < -300
knightmare 5.5/11 +0 11 games ELO-DIF = 0
flaviolucas 7/9 +5 9 games ELO-DIF = -250
jromero 3/8 -2 8 games ELO-DIF = 150
johnrussell 0.5/8 -7 8 games ELO-DIF = > 300
ronald 0/8 -8 8 games ELO-DIF = > 300
islanderfan 5/7 +3 7 games ELO-DIF = -200
dragondude 1.5/7 -4 7 games ELO-DIF = > 300
daphatmon 6/6 +6 6 games ELO-DIF = < -300
ayric 6/6 +6 6 games ELO-DIF = < -300
vjahagirdar 6/6 +6 6 games ELO-DIF = < -300
Note one thing:
ELO tries to approach the statistical results, but this does not always have to mean that both are in accordance with each other.
Though statistics will show a more correct rating difference with sufficient games played. These don't have to be with one opponent, but can be with chained players (ex. A plays B plays C plays A), as long the number of games is great enough.

Re: Advanced options on Search from main screen
Note that some games contain an error. Some moves are not separated properly by a <space>. With 14 out of 639 games, that ain't much though.toverturf wrote:If you use the advanced search options from the main menu you can extract a LOT of useful information. thanks fellas
i can deduce i have no set opening which is true as i like to vary it a lot one to keep you guessing and two to learn more openings
the one i know best is the sicilain or the french
i used to know the dutch stonewall and leningrad very well
any glaringly obvious dodgy openings i need to learn?? or was it just bad luck
i imagine a few of the most popular openings are from themed openings as there would be a lot of games on the go at once

Actualy, it's a bit more complicated.keithstuart wrote:listed as percentage chance of winning for the higher rated player i presume?
so if we were playing more than one game i'd multiply the number of games by that factor to get a figure would i?
first you have to add all the chances of one player together.
Then divide it by the number of games.
so, if someone has a 4 games with 50% chance and 4 games with 97% chance, you would get:
(4 x 50 + 4 x 97) / 8 = 600/8 or 75% score.
(600 is just rounded up for ease)
75% equeals
- 6 wins, 2 losses
- 5 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws.
- 4 wins, 4 draws.
