I had a game cross my desktop today ...

Post by ecperreault » Wed Oct 10, 2012 11:41 pm

I had a game cross my desktop which was a VERY entertaining one to play through indeed. Actually I found myself playing through a few variations and thoroughly enjoying myself.
It was a Queen's Pawn game involving - not 2 players rated 9999, but 2 regular 'Joes'.
It was played at a fast rate of 10 days plus 1 day per move. Both players finished with more than 20 days remaining on their clocks, and since the game was only 23 moves long... well we can assume their was much chatting involved as well for it seems like a friendly game.
Here is the game if you are really concerned with it: [URL]http://www.net-chess.com/viewgame.cgi?p1=g1105125351[/URL}
```
I now shall flip through this enjoyable game to share it with anyone who wishes to share it.
NOTE: My analysis is geared towards the beginner to medium chess player.
Yes, a little unusual, but not rare in any way. Now the game takes on the aura of two friends playing a Chess game in the park.
Following this exchange of material we find that Black has positioned his Queen in an awkward position and he naturally exploits White's Knight, which is equally awkwardly positioned!
Now a natural sequence unfolds...
A slightly more exciting try might have been 7...g6 with the idea of playing Bg7 to attack White's Pawn at d4 and the Center Black square diagonal. The played move almost forces White to offer a Queen trade at move 8.
Not a bad choice to advance in the free Center, but maybe White should develop a little first with Nf3.
All-in-all a great game by two Chess players playing under a quick time control.
It was enjoyable and I thought it warranted a line or two in the Forums.
Maybe another game will cross my desktop which may find its way here...
I asked Josh and Dave their take on it. Waiting for the reply. Maybe even angelofthenight can say her 2 cents. 8)
