Appologies to all, but I seem to have picked a helluva time to be on the 'disabled list', so to speak. :( But I'll hold together long enough this weekend to get back to business! (This Crazy glue is Great stuff!)

At any rate, there were a couple of complications that seem to have arisen in my absence. First, I'd like to quote from the Official 2012 Zapper zMemorial Tournament Rules:

(14) (If by March 24, insufficient players have entered for six teams, the Zapper 2012 will go with five teams. The fifth place team will be eliminated in Round One, and the remaining teams will play two-games vs each other bboard player in Round Two.. Round Two will be the medal round, and the tournament will be a two-round event.
(15) The rules may be changed to help the tournament proceed more smoothly.

I had mentioned to Brian, in a move that I DID make last week, that since we had s5 players (captains included) we'd go with five teams, but since Sorim and Mic had entered, we'd extend the deadline until the Thursday just passed, April 5. I guess I should have asked him to post that also! Oops! I also mentioned that Mic and Sorim would be in the first alternate pool, which now includes Spacebuffalo.

To those players, don't worry too much. We've never had a Zapper where a replacement or two wasn't needed. I'm sure you'll be in sooner or later! :)

So that's where we stand now. Chris, Jan, and myself are fine with a draft being held on Monday and Tuesday of next week (April 9-10) and a start date of Friday 13th of next week! Hope that pleases everyone! So I'll email the draft selections to
Brian, Chris, Jan, Josh, and Eugene later today, and we'll be up in running!

And Eugene came up with an idea so brilliant in it's simplicity, it had completely eluded me regarding the draft! In the first Round, the "expansion" team, What's Sportsmanship? will draft first, the Beerdrinkers second, Keep 'Em Checkmated third, Caissa's Chosen fourth, and Team Tyr last. The reverse order of last year's standings after the new team. That will reverse in the Second round of the draft.
In the thirdround, however, we still need Brian's "magic Islanders Cap to draw the order from. And that order will reverse for the last round.

Lastly, as you can see above, Chris' tema name is "What;s Sportsmanship?" (Hey, is it really any odder that the California Golden Seals of NHL lore? )

I think that coveres everything, and my special thatnks to Brian and Eugene for keeping things going for me here!

:D :D :D

I shall get on a Team Logo for 'What's Sportsmanship'.
Look for it in a little bit.
cmulligan made a motion for something with torn lingerie and it was immediately Seconded! however...
Eh, what do I need a draft order for? With all the swindles going on by off-site messaging I only can wait for the Team roster announcements any ways.

Interesting idea, Brian.... I ran it by George to get his opinion....

Image

... but he seemed to have other things on his mind...

So, I'd have to say that I think we chould keep it as it is. Five teams. My reasoning being that simply put, the more players per team, the more boards. The more boards, the more players that may have to withdraw, the more players withdrawn, the longer it takes to replace them, and the more delays in startups. See my reasoning? But I think it's a great idea you had to keep the registration open until yesterday! I really like the idea of having some alternates before the event starts! We must do that every year!

Thanks!

And to Hans; Not to worry, buddy! I just seperateed the entrants into groups of five so people could get a comparative strength range to start. I think ALL our ratings have changed since I wrote that, originally!

:)
