CC Checklist
CC Checklist
Hello.Been having a great time here on Net-Chess;getting back into the game & meeting great folks.I have been having a problem getting myself to slow down & focus though,resulting in sloppier play than I'm happy with.I don't expect to play perfect & I'm no GM by any stretch.Just want to reduce the number of silly errors I sometimes(too often,lol) make.Like getting tunnel vision over an attack I'm about to launch & not noticing a piece under attack.
My idea has been to put together a short checklist to go over before I move to help me reduce my goofs.It's not meant to outline strategy or set goals ,just to make sure I don't overlook anything important.What I have so far is;
1.Which;if any,of my pieces/pawns are;
a)under attack,
b)pinned,
c)vulnerable(undefended, isolated or limited movement options),or
d)overloaded(defending multiple points)?
2.Which;if any,of my opponent's pieces/pawns are;
a)under attack,
b)pinned,
c)vulnerable,or
d)overloaded
3.Can anything be easily attacked or pinned in one move?
4.Should it be?
5.Check in on the guys I sent to beat up Islanderfan...uhm,sorry...wrong list...
Any thoughts,ideas,additions or subtractions?Not expecting to cover everything or looking to set up a list to "play" the game for me.Just want something to help me get back in the habit of not overlooking the obvious or silly stuff.Thanks for any input!

Re: CC Checklist
I think noticing the pieces that are undefended is useful. Maybe also which pieces have few squares available.cmulligan wrote:Any thoughts,ideas,additions or subtractions?Not expecting to cover everything or looking to set up a list to "play" the game for me.Just want something to help me get back in the habit of not overlooking the obvious or silly stuff.Thanks for any input!

6. Click "Move"
7. Realize what a horrible mistake you've made
8. Frantically and repeatedly press the stop button, escape, power, back, to prevent the move from being registered.
9. Resign, but comfort yourself by knowing your opponent got lucky just because you missed that one little thing.
