This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Tournament and I must admit that the Chess Festival last night was a sight to behold!
I know that most everyone was there (or it was a well paid crowd)! For those couple unlucky Zapper Tournament players who missed it. I, Biroggvy - my equipment manager and Myaria - my photographer attended and made this report:

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Tournament reporting live for all who missed it, the activities of the Zapper Tournament Ceremony. It was held at the Grabmyack Square which is located in the central part of the vast city.
As the Grand Ceremony of this imaginary Medieval Town was opened the lights dimmed over the square. The torches in the highest windows of the created castle gate cast an eerie glow over the scene before all ...

The game proceeded with two important Noblemen making their moves on a small chessboard, and the Herald calling out each move so that the Living Pieces could follow suit. After roughly 20 moves, White, in stunning fashion, sacrificed his Queen to open up a lane for his rook! On the next move, the White rook comes down and crushes the Black King. Checkmate!
Upon conclusion of the Living Chess Game, the King and Queen of the Kingdom enter to the center of the board.

The King's Proclamation is read to all.
Welcome all players. Be it known that this great Zapper Tournament is held in the honor of a very popular player of Net-Chess who passed away some 4 years ago. In real life his name was Jeffery C. Jones, but here on Net-Chess he was known to all as 'Zapper'. He passed away from cancer while still in his early 40's and had a great collection of friends on Net-Chess.
All who knew him thoroughly enjoyed the whit, humor and sharp fighting Chess of the Zapper. To understand the free giving of his humor to all, one only had to be on the Net-Chess site as he wrote play-by-play of TV Wrestling matches in the Forum as they happened. Chess is a serious game, but Zapper wanted to make it fun also.
I am sure he would approve of the fun we are having with simple pictures and bantering in the Zapper Reports. I am also sure Zapper would like to see more players joining in the bantering for it's all in fun, just as he shared his humor with all.
With the approval of the Zapper's nephew, iamachessstudent (Josh), I, hereby Proclaim that now and forever more, this Zapper Tournament shall renamed the 'Zapper Memorial' chess tournament.
To all participants now and in the future, good luck, good chess, but more importantly ... have fun!
...
Then to complete the celebration the lights are once again dimmed and the night sky explodes with showers of fireworks.
Thank you, and Rest In Peace, Jeffery C. Jones, 1963-2007, 'Zapper'

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Memorial Tournament waiting PATIENTLY for the 'Captains' to issue the challenges to start Round 2.
I was just talking to the team 'Keep Em Checkmated's Captain, islanderfan. He said he is still working out a few 'technical' problems.
Good luck, Brian.

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Memorial Tournament with important news ... ... ... The most exciting game of the First Round has just been completed ... ... ... jsiebert (I can call her Judy) of The Beerdrinkers Team has just got her team back into contention as she took down heyuneverno of Team Keep Em Checkmated. What a marathon it was as they battled for better than 75 moves.
This game had more highs and lows than the stock market! Well worth playing through to see the HUGE momentum swings.
Well played Jim & Judy!

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Memorial Tournament with the first result in Round 2! johnb of Team Tyr and islanderfan of Team Keep Em Checkmated have fired off a fast Draw ... ... ...
Seems to me that there was plentyyyyy ... Stupid junky Teletype machine! Nuts! Myaria! Myaria! Yah, get down there on your hands & knees and see if you can see what the problem I am having with this thing! Crappy machine islanderfan donated here. All I have done for him and... OK, I will check it, hold on Myaria... ... ...
Sssseemssss to mmme ttthattt ... No, now its worse! Crimy, makes me sound like a talking oven in the Alaska! Wait, Myaria! Try putting that long thing in there... Yah, that is good. Now I can pound this out. Thanks Myaria! ... ... ...
Seems to me that there was plenty of meat & potatoes still on the Board to be scooped out, but they agreed to a draw. These 2 teams now share the Tournament lead with 9½ Points each.

hmmmmm.....Caissa's Chosen, eh?
Let's see...
- On August 1, after the first five games were playerd, the score was:
Chosen - 3.5, Checkmated - 1, Beerdrinkers - 0.5, Tyr - 0.
- On October 19, the end of Round One, the final score was:
Tyr - 9, Checkmated - 9, Chosen - 8, Beerdrinkers - 4.
Meaning that Caissa's Chosen only picked up 4.5 of the last 25 possible points! Only 18%. Not too good...
Seems to me that Caissa's Chosen weren't her chosen pick this year....

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Memorial Tournament with early second round results.
Next there was islanderfan of Keep Em Checkmated and mi of The Beerdrinkers ... ... ... playing the fastest game so far. 55 moves in 1 minute (seemed like), I hope Board 5 was paying attention.
It looked good for islanderfan after mi lost his Queen on move 30!
But, mi just outplayed islanderfan in this nimzo-indian for the remainder of the game securing another Point for The Beerdrinkers.
It finished immediately after the preceding game and The Beerdrinkers were still celebrating the first game. Little did they know more was to follow!

This your UNBIASED Reporter here at the 2011 Zapper Memorial Tournament with early second round results.
Next there was johnb of Team Tyr falling to mi of The Beerdrinkers again... ... ...
3 straight wins for mi and The Beerdrinkers are right back in the Zapper Memorial!
mi surprised johnb with this Larsen Opening and for the entire game ... ... ... johnb had trouble developing his men. johnb even won a pawn after a series of piece exchanges ... ... ... but mi used the open g-file to setup a vicious attack starting with 18 Rxh6! johnb would have done well to run with 18... Kf7 ... ... ... but he elected to develop his Queen Rook, hoping to get a counter-attack going against mi.
But mi spotted the over powering 19 f4!!! and The Beerdrinkers ordered another round of beers a few moves later.
