Player's Nationalities?

Post by cliff » Sat May 22, 2010 8:19 pm

Any players interested in participating in a series of International Tournaments I'm planning for later in the year, please just leave your Nickname, Country, and Rating.

Eg.

Cliff (Canada) 2762

Thanks.

Thanks to Brian and Josh for responding.

Many others I've spoken to regarding the teams on another thread and in our games, and the rest of the site seems to have forgotten the idea of having pride in representing one's country. Either that, or total apathy.

Whichever it is, I'm getting frustrated with the lack of input from other corners. Maybe I'll stick to the circle of playing friends I have here, and we'll do things between ourselves with events and tournaments. The apathy from most others is disheartening.

(Hey, maybe it's the heat getting to me...I don't know...)

No Cliff,

As you and I talked about, it is very frustrating to post and want and ask for input and conversation and to be met with NOTHING day after day, week after week..
I know I am new to this site relatively, but damn ppl... is it that hard to just input? We have time for games, whats another 2-5 minutes so post? Gee, its very frustrating and the reason I no longer try to post....great site but totally un-interested or participating members for the most part
Sorry to be so blunt, but thats how I feel and I'm glad Cliff shares that feeling as I am sure many others do too!

Play the position, not the dream.

Post by energy » Wed Jun 02, 2010 5:18 pm

The internet is a big place, the world even more so.

Many steps to greater mastery of the game of Chess comes from looking at positions as they are and not as you wish them to be. Of course, then you make your moves trying to change everything more to your liking.

If this place is such a position, are you sure you see it as it is? And do you think complaining about it is the best move?

So to answer your post Nils, yes mine was and still is the right move..... just wish I could do it on the chessboard!!!!

Aha! I understand!

:D

I did a search in the forum for topics authored by cornstalk, and I think I found the one you mean! It started with a question about "time being added to a game", and was posted in December/07!

It turned into a a flame war nearly, with 44 replies and just about everyone getting into the act! Nearly as good as some of Malakhov's threads!

Well, if I came accross like that, I owe Nils and Brian and everyone else an appology! I was just trying to say, as Josh and I have spoken about, I wish more people would try some new things, and communicate more. Nothing else.

Again, my appolgies.

I thought the complaints were about too little activity? Your trash talking helped assure one less voice here, are you sure *that* is the right move?

Er....I assume you were referring to Brian's post, Nils?

I didn't really think I was guilty of any "trash talk'....

Somehow my post above, regarding cornstalk, got put in the wrong spot! I just wrote it, and even quoted Brian's last post!

Don't know what happened, but read it right after Brian's post about "his move being the right one", and the cohesiveness of my post here will make sense.

I found this site because I was looking for a slow way to play online, preferably through RSS. Because I primarily play through that means, I rarely get to the home page.

This, of course, precludes visiting the forums very often. I wonder if there are others who play as I do, with the same results (inactivity on the forums)?

Anyway, I am from the USA with a rating of 2148 (and falling).

I play chess like I play billiards. I either make every shot, or scratch every time.

Right now I'm scratching.

This is within this site correct?

If so I will participate if I am not too late. jumpnmustang usa 2480ish

I would love to get more into the chat in these, however it is increasingly hard for me to read them as I am pretty syldexic. Hope nonya hold that against me. Feel free to contact me if I made any impression on you from past games, or would like to play a game or two.

Also let me know if this idea is still going on.
