A Trivia Question For You Sports Fans

Post by langelli » Tue Mar 17, 2009 9:49 pm

There are 8 sports teams in Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Hockey that have team names that don't end with the letter "S". Can you name them? I'll give you the 2 easiest. Red Sox, and White Sox. Who are the other 6?

I thought there were 8 teams, but looks like we came up with 9. Can anyone think of any we've missed. To add insult to injury, my wife came up with more than any of us did. I'm not surprised considering she's knows more about sports than most men I know. Especially baseball.

1) Red Sox
2) White Sox
3) Avalanch
4) Wild
5) Lightening
6) Magic
7) Jazz
8) Heat
9) Thunder

Well, assuming that you count the CFL, here's one:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Ottawa Roughriders.

There's Cardinals, Rangers, Giants, and 1 I can't remember. I'll ask my wife when she gets home. I got this from her.

OOPS!

Sorry. Misunderstood the question.

But the CFL is the 'Canadian Football League" and Ottawa & Saskatchewan both have teams in the CFL called the Roughriders. Anyway, now that I get the question - and assuming you count the CFL, since we haven't got the Bills (yet!) - Toronto has the Maple Leafs (hockey), Blue Jays (baseball), Raptors (basketball), and Argonauts (Football).

Now here's another one:

Who was the last NHL player NOT to wear a helmet, and when did he retire?

And after I put up that last post, I reread the question and discovered I still had answered it wrong!

NOW I Get it! Ah!

:D

The last NHL player not to wear a helmet was Craig MacTavish. He retired after the 1996-97 season.

Who holds the record for the most goals scored in the NHL? This should be an easy one for one who calls himself islanderfan. In fact, you should know how many goals he scored too. Cmon Brian!!!!!!!!
