Dead draw - S.O.S GMiller

Post by cmarcolino » Mon Dec 18, 2006 10:27 pm

Hi GMiller,

Could you help me?

I am playing a slowchess game that is a "dead" draw, but my oponent is still paying, probably trying to win on time. That position is a well known rook against bishop ending... It´s worth trying, but I thought server would "flag" the 50 move rule, but it didn´t... Last capture happened on move number 106 and now we are on move 300+! (Maybe a record...). An intersting detail: Time control is 7d+0.

Some data to help:
- My username: cmarcolino
- Gamed ID: 1104796650 (http://www.slowchess.com/viewgame.cgi?p1=g1104796650)
- My e-mail: claudio.marcolino@gmail.com or achmarco@compuland.com.br

Best wishes and tks!

The 50 move rule isn't automatically enforced, you have to request a draw. I've offered a draw from both sides and added a little time so you won't time out while waiting.

It should be possible to claim a draw, based on sufficient grounds. However, there is no "50 move rule" anymore; some pawnless postions are won that require more moves than that, and with no captures.

But I would never play at 7+0; it's an invitation to the opponent to game the clock.
