Exploration of Latvian Gambit.

Post by ilmarinens » Sat Oct 28, 2006 2:39 pm

I think that Latvian gambit is dead. :D

My favorite move is 3.Bc4.

I want explore some variations after 3.Bc4.

- white win (IMO)
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 Qg5 5.Nf7 Qxg2 6.Rf1 d5 7.Nxh8 dxc4 .Qh5+ g6 9.Qxh7 Bh3 10.Qxg6+ Qxg6 11.Nxg6 Bxf1 12.Nxf8
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 d5 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Bb5+ c6 7.Nxg6 Nf6 8.Qe5+ Be7 9.Qxe7+ Qxe7 10.Nxe7 Kxe7 11.Be2(f1)

- I believe (not 100% sure) that white win after
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 d5 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Bb5+ c6 7.Nxg6 hxg6 8.Qxh8 cxb5 9.Qxg8 Qg5 10.Rg1 Nc6 11.Nc3 Nd4

- I don't know...
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 d5 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Nxg6 hxg6 7.Qxh8 Kf7

- it's drawn (IMO)
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 Qg5 5.d4 Qxg2 6.Qh5+ g6 7.Bf7+ Kd8 8.Bxg6 Qxh1+ 9.Ke2 Qxc1

- white win (IMO)
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 Qg5 5.d4 Qxg2 6.Qh5+ g6 7.Bf7+ Kd8 8.Bxg6 Qxh1+ 9.Ke2 c6?

I am going to make rated thematic tournaments about it. (Also a thematic with 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4, of course.) All strong players who don't agree with death of Latvian gambit are welcomed.
Question: which variation is most interesting for you - Latvian gambit fans?

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 d5 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Bb5+ c6 7.Nxg6 hxg6 8.Qxh8 cxb5 9.Qxg8 Qg5 10.Rg1 Nc6 11.Nc3 Nd4 - now I am 100 % sure that it is draw. Thanks to me.

So I must return to complex and unclear 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 d5 5.Qh5+ g6 6.Nxg6 hxg6 7.Qxh8 Kf7.

Also I changed my opinion about 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 fxe4 4.Nxe5 Qg5 5.d4 Qxg2 6.Qh5+ g6 7.Bf7+ Kd8 8.Bxg6 Qxh1+ 9.Ke2 Qxc1 - white wins. Thanks to Paul Keres. :)

French women

They are very ugly compared to Latvian women! Of course this discusion is relevant to chess. You need to be relaxed when you play chess. I always have sex before and after a serious chess match!

Actually I think: that discussion must be moved to "Puzzles and Game Comentary" as 'discussion on opening'. :D

IMHO Latvian women are the best.
I know it because I live in Latvia. :)

P.S.
:D
Is here any serious player who want to defend position of Black after
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4. (>2700, unrated games)?
Hint: use against me Svedenborg variation as black. It is most difficult for me temporarily. :)

P.P.S.
IMO also 3.Nxe5, 3.Nc3 and 3.exf5 is won for white. But my favourite is 3.Bc4 forever.
