West Covina chess club is a big deal out there...lots of weekend tournaments... also santa monica chess club....you will have your hands full of chess clubs...also Robert Schmidt(forgot last name???) teaches chess at Saddleback College...he is a national master...very good player...good luck and good night.

Mic  8) 8)
enjoyed chess for thirty years...have lots of books and mags but never time to study. Maybe when I retire...chess strength has gone done ratings are unrealistic

He taught chess on the weekends there...I went to a few of his classes and played some tournaments there in the early 80's....
