Profile access

Hi Greg,

Here is a suggestion, it would be nice if one could access ones opponents profile directly from the board, by clicking their name.

Keep up the good work.

Depends on who is handling the pieces. there are some weaknesses in the opening, but all openings have there + and - points. There isn't a way like the mate in 2 to blast this kind of opening away so if you practice a lot you can make it your own. I play this a lot in Blitz just because it is new t...

Why did the person I quoted deleted his message? I deleted my message because i copy and pasted the game into chessbase and for some reason it reads it wrong, thus making it a completely different game than the actual one and my comments was based on "the chessbase version" :) 1.f3 or 1...f6 (follo...

No as David points out, that wouldn't be much of a puzzle, the move sequence is 11 moves until it is completely clear that black is lost position, like i said it is a tough one and i will let it stand for a little while longer before i give the moves.

That doesn't make sense at all. If you have a great plan you have compensation by definition, and the position must be considered unclear. You should play on to learn if your plan really is great, and if you actually evaluated the possibilities right. If it truly was great, you'd be sure to learn a...

Re: If you want to become good, don't give up too early.

I disagree with most of what cohonas said. Almost all the really good players I've met has had this in common; They hate to lose. They will fight as long as they have a plan, unless they have to consider conserving their energy for the next game. As for myself, I have saved countless games after fi...

This issue comes up every few months in every chess forum. What is your hurry? If your opponent elects to stop moving, the game will time out, so just wait. If your opponent elects to play until checkmate, then you need only find the quickest mate. Courteous players resign when they are at a decisi...

I did a rough calculation that suggests if you remove the "reason" tag alone will save 5 Mb in a 100.000 game database. 100 tags (and just the various possible "rason" tags) in a text file is about 5 Kb so: 10 Kb=200 tags 100 Kb = 2000 tags 1000 Kb = 20000 tags etc. Going from long notation to stand...

I've implemented the match view. So that's done. Also for future games castling will be noted with O's rather than 0's, but games already played will still have their 0's. Few programs should care though. The "reason" PGN tag is to denote why the game ended. "Draw" is pretty obvious, but it could a...
