Re: Forfeits and move time limit

Could we at least get a "flag" command to make the server instantly check whether our opponent has run out of time? I have an opponent in http://net-chess.com/viewgame.cgi?p1=g1105307145 who has timed out almost an entire hour ago and has not yet lost. Also, where do we request that games be adjudic...

Re: Draw Offer Cleared with Reset

I too would like to see this changed, I've offered a few unintentional draws when I suddenly realized I had a win!

However, in the linked game, 77...Rxb4 and the only try is 78.Rc7+ when 78...Rc4 saves the day.

Re: MY ONE WISH

Congratulations on the laser treatment, ziggy.

What I have sometimes done for analysis is copy the move list into a program such as Scid vs. PC so I can move the pieces around. I of course do not use any of the engine features.

I have found there is a large amount of rating inflation on this site at the lower levels; I am rated about 1300 on ICC standard but I am rated about 2100 here (I can't check exactly right now because it's not taking my password for some reason?). That said, I have never used a computer for correspo...

Computer use

I've been wondering about this myself, as I haven't seen any rule against it anywhere on the site. Nonetheless, I should state that I have refrained from using a computer (just look at some of my games, or the fact I'm currently at my rating floor!) I think there should be an option to have unrated ...

Here's a "miniature" example of where promotion to rook is the only winning move: http://www.net-chess.com/diagram.cgi/.............P.k...............K.................................jpg White to move. If White moves the king, black plays Kg7 and then captures the pawn next move -- draw. If White p...

The first move is Rg1. From here it quickly gets complicated as black has many responses, most of which lead to shorter mates. 1.Rg1 1...Bxd2+ 2.Kf1 2...Qxb5 3.cxb5 3...Kb8 4.Rg8+ 4...Rd8 5.Rxd8+ 5...Kc7 6.Bxb6+ 6...axb6 7.Qc8# 6...Kb7 7.Qc6# 5...Kb7 6.Qc6# 5...Nc8 6.Qxc8# 4...Nc8 5.Qxd7 any 6.Rxc8#...

There's a mate in 7

There's a mate in 7, but it's not easy to find at all, as the first move is not forcing. Should I go ahead and post it here, or leave it for others to find (given that I used a computer)?

PS. The computer actually found the mate in 10 before the mate in 7 -- it's that obscure.
