rating floors
What's the purpose of a rating floor? If someone is losing lots of games, then don't they deserve their rating to drop? Just trying to understand the reasoning behind the idea! Thanks!

Re: Be warned against korpsion!
If he's resigned, then you get a win and the game is rated. It's just time-outs under 10 moves that don't count. He's rated so low, it really shouldn't affect most people though. I've also removed his rating floor, so he can drop as far as he wants. As soon as he gets to negative numbers he won't b...

one more thing about korpsion
Stats update for korpsion: he's now lost 222 of 226 games, and I suspect he's just resigning games without playing them? (can anyone confirm that?) He's currently playing about 50 games right now, so others are going to get burned by the same behaviour. He just joins matches, and then resigns games ...

Be warned against korpsion!
Be warned if you are in a match against korpsion! As I noted earlier in this thread, he timed out in 200 of his 216 games so far. He accepted my open challenge, and resigned after just *one* move! (curious: what happens in such a case - surely the game doesn't count towards ratings then?) I noticed ...

Bughouse rules
To the person who asked what bughouse is: here are some links to sites explaining the basic rules of bughouse: http://www.bughouse.net http://www.bughouse.info http://www.chessvariants.com/multiplayer.dir/tandem.html http://mujweb.atlas.cz/sport/holandany/CompleteBughouseRules.htm The following site...

time?
Time is a critical element of over-the-board bughouse. Sometimes players "sit" while in a lost position, or while waiting for particular pieces. How would you incorporate this into correspondence bughouse? One alternative (commonly used in correspondence bughouse) is to require that all players play...

more ideas?
Here are some more ideas for domain names that reflect what you want to convey - i.e. that the longer time controls mean better quality chess:
smartchess.com
bestchess.com (my favorite so far I think - short, snappy and indicates what you want)
Cheers!

slow chess?
As a newcomer to your site, I must admit that the name slowchess.com rubbed me the wrong way too. A "slow" person suggests somebody mentally disabled, and similarly "slow chess" brings up negative images in my mind. Even though you may have something positive in mind with the name, I'm sure there ar...

Hi I'm new here! Info on korpsion?
Hi I'm new here. I'm not new to turn-based chess, but I am new to slowchess.com. Am I correct that most games here are in matches and tournaments, rather than just individual games with players? I'm also wondering about a player called korpsion who accepted one of my challenges. He's lost 212 of 216...
