Yes!

(For everyone not paying attention, there is a new release of SCID this week) I had tried Chessbase, and a few other programs, and none of them did exactly what I wanted. SCID almost did everything right, and then we got a new release this week, and now it DOES! :D I love it. I can take the PGN outp...

A wise man once told me: "Chess has no politics".

Maybe they would let a representative of net-chess play Saddam some correspondence games, in-between interogations?

The Grinch who banned d4!

I realize that you don't care, but I HATE d4! I hate everything to do with them, I will not play them sam-I-am. Wow, mix several Suess metaphors hehe... I am in a screwy mood, probably because of the Vicodin the doctor prescribed for my dislocated shoulder. Maybe I should stay away from playing any ...

You should play my 5 year old

My five year old son expressed an interest in chess about 3 months ago, so I went over the pieces and the moves, etc. We play at least one game a day. Now he's not that good yet, but the amount he gets better day by day is truly frightening. At his current rate of progression, he will need his own a...

Another idea that would be really helpful

The screen that you get when you click on 'All My Games' is terrifically useful. What would be a really neat improvement would be to add on the right about 30 characters from the notes section of each game. As well as the match number and link which I requested above. :)

Thanks

Statistics

Thank you Greg for the great statistics page, I think there is something about statistics that really appeals to a chess player. I have noticed it several times before here, and was almost to comment on it two other times.

Um, yeah

There is something I do all the time:

I click on all my games, go to a game, click on the match link.

It would be really nice if the match link were available from "All my games"

Just a thought... Thanks for asking the question! :D

The AP report referred to in the last link you gave, and referenced from the second link you gave is the report I was recalling. Chess at work

There was just a study released (I believe I read it on CNN) that people who have web access and a fairly liberal policy regarding it are actually much more productive workers... so play chess at work!

Why are Sundays so quiet around here?

I find it strange, but it seems to me fewer people are playing their games, posting comments, etc on Sunday than on any other day...

It seems to be counterintuitive, I would think MORE people would play on Sunday's.

Ah well, just a comment

bobbybellona: no, I wasn't in an evironment where that was possible. For Sunday I will have it on along with ESPN2.

Since GK desperately needs a win with white, I wonder what opening he'll choose? Whatever it is, I'll bet it stresses position (strategy) over tactics :)

Instead of watching the game on ESPN2 like I did the first time, I monitored it on the X3D web site. As soon as the rook took the pawn, the commentators said the game was over. Then, when GK made a move, the commentary was that there was still some life in the position, then he resigned... 8) All th...

I had this question too!

I asked the same question a while back on the forum, and everyone pointed me to SCID, and I have to say, I have been using it and LOVING it! The only thing I like better in any software is the "prepare for opponents" in Chess Assistant, but other than that, I love SCID.

Nice job on the first steps to correct the problem. I would like to be added to the list of people who have no rating floor at all, please. If you use the advanced search options from the main menu you can extract a LOT of useful information. The results display on a mostly PGN compatible page that you can then save and import into your favorite PGN viewer. :)
