Joshua, good to have you back.
I look forward to sparring with you again in some upcoming games.

About signing up for the 2017 tournament...
I've just signed up for the tournament; looking forward to participating again after missing a couple of years. I had thought I'd signed up the other day, but realized today I hadn't when I checked the list. This was because I had been prompted for a login and thought the signup would follow suit. A...

How long are challenges available?
I have a couple of challenges that I've posted on the match board. How long will the challenges remain available to accept/start before aborting?
Thanks.
Thanks.

.NET Applications
I notice the .aspx extension, which implies a .NET application. Sometimes .NET applications are slow to load the first time, since it's initializing the entire .NET framework and loading a lot into cache. Sometimes websites even time out. I really apprciate this discussion. If I'm truly pinned, I am was often scaring it off, like dcroll said he did. In something as early as the dcroll example, where my knight is threatened but not pinned, I might make it into a pin in order to encourage the bishop to take the knight. If he takes the ...

I think this is a general issue with first-time players. Often people join the site and join games not realizing how slow these games are. I remember my first day I was not sure how to make the games start. Then, when my first game was accepted, I forgot how to log in again! Took me a while to get i...

To Resign or Not To Resign, that is the Question
I am one of those who resign probably less than I should. I find the following: a) if someone resigns on me when I've got 2 moves to checkmate, it feels like they stole the win. I got credit for it, but I didn't get to actually perform the deed. So I don't like to steal that win from others. I guess...

Rating History Comparison Chart (Excel Spreadsheet)
I've created a spreadsheet that downloads rating history for specified players and creates a chart comparing them. I first wanted something like this when I started a routine challenge with a chess-pal. We started at about the same level, and over time it was interesting to see how one would be up, ...

Greg: I now have a palm treo and really wish I could play net-chess from it. unfortunately the site doesn't work for various reasons, including size of layout and some other things. I've tried the "enhanced layout" feature but it doesn't seem to work well yet, and I'm not sure it would remove the is...

I like the idea. but don't think it is super-important. if you implemented it, I'd definitely use it. on the other hand, the purpose of the site is correspondence chess, and I sometimes force myself to logoff if I find myself plying interactively because I changes the mindset (and I find myself maki...

I don't understand this feature enough to be able to vote on it. disabling the MOVE button I like, because sometimes I hit it accidentally. But don't the move buttons already work the way you describe?

Greg: I see that the NOTES column is now available in the My Games list. This is great; thanks for adding it. I'm noticing, however, that a lot of games that don't have notes are showing up with notes. I'm wondering if perhaps it's showing me my opponents' notes? Probably not, because they don't loo...

Glad for the Delay
Greg: I for one was glad for the delayed start. I was late in registering; thanks for allowing me in! Although, I've looked at my match-mates and while I'm fairly proud of my mid-1700 rating, everyone else in my match is about 2200-or-so. So I guess it will be a quick-but-painful death for me. :-) R...

Flagged Games/Matches
Hi Greg. Here's an idea. I'd really like to be able to set a flag for either a game or a match. This flag should show up on all my lists, perhaps in it's own column or right alongside the game number. I would use this flag to note games I want to pay close attention to, so that when they show up in ...

Rating History
Hey, Greg: Just a note to say how I love the "new" rating history feature I just discovered. I don't know how long you've had it there, but I found it while browsing around today and I love it. I often lose track of my rating and get surprised when I see it at times, and wonder how I got there. Now ...

Re: Board contrast
How can I change the board colors to make them with more of a contrast to print them out so the squares are more visible on paper? Thank you Jim Kostura If you're using IE, I think you can set your options to "include background graphics when printing" and this will do it. I'm sure NetScape and oth...

Notepad in My Games List
Have a look at it now. Hey Greg, That's a great feature. Can you also add it to the list of games ready for me to make a move? That's where I would find it most useful. In fact, I'd also like the ability to sort the games I have a move ready for. Sometimes I'm looking for a particular opponent, som...
