king and bishop against lone king

I just finished a game that ended in a draw because it was a king and bishop against a lone king. Since in this case checkmate is not possible, shouldn't the system automatically force a draw?

exhanges

In an exchange of minor piece or even rooks and queen, if the exchange makes puts me a pawn ahead, is it worth it?

ratings

What would be considered a respectable rating on this site? Something equivalent to 1600-1700 at US Chess Federation?

change board layout?

Someone told me there was a way to resize or expand the view of the board. He said that there was a button called "change board layout," but I don't see it. Has anyone else seen it?

I found this on the site of the Kingston Chess Club. What do you all think? :?: 30. And fittingly last but not least, learn when to resign gracefully. If you are playing a game and are a Rook down or more, with no attack, passed pawn (a Pawn whose passage is unopposed by other pawns and thus is a se...

When to Resign

:?: I'm down a knight in an email game at IECC. Should I resign? Technically, if we're equal players, and my opponent doesn't make any mistakes he should win, right? What's the consensus out there about when one should resign? Down a knight? Down a rook? A queen? Is it positional? Positional can get...

Number of Games

If a match specifies the number of games against each player as "4," are all 4 games played at once? :(
